The Bike Ride of Death

Last night, there was a mosquito in my room (yes this is another mosquito rant). woke up at 1 AM with 10 bites on my legs. so I covered them with a blanket. woke up an hour later with bites all over my arms. so pulled the blanket to my neck (and was sweating like crazy). woke up an hour later with bites all over my face and ears. ugh.

today my cousin took off from work to take me out bike riding. we rode the bus to Confucius Temple

then rented bikes from Youbike, which has renting stations all over Taipei so you can ride them around the whole city, very cheap! we used them for almost 2 hours and spent $0.70 each.

Imagine New York City, but with less cars and more law-ignoring motorcyclists. add in many street side double parked cars. now imagine riding a bike in the middle of the lane through traffic one handed with no helmet.

that was what the first half was like. O_o honestly it wasn't too bad because in Taiwan, not too many people really stick to the painted lanes- they kinda just drive wherever as long as they don't crash. so we just rode, and it was their job to avoid us :P

when we reached the riverside, there was a trail for just bikes so it was much easier and less stressful.

in the process of getting sunburnt

our ride, um. approximately. 13 kilometers :)

also watched Man of Steel at the theater across the street. plot was good. probability was bad. all aliens ever do is land in America. even when they're fighting and fly all the way up out of the atmosphere, they land in the exact same place when they come back down. like, What the Heck. and the way he finally killed the bad guy. why didn't he just do that earlier?

done ranting :)
